Awareness We believe that building awareness of Majority World issues in children, their parents and teachers, as well as in young people is the key to our harmonious future. Seeds planted at the right time, and nurtured as they grow, will yield great harvest. Poverty, environment, and security are intertwined, and if we want to envision a peaceful, comfortable future we must begin with the present. PeaceDiviners™ uses every opportunity to plant seeds of awareness of both responsibility and available choices to combat serious social, environmental, and other policy-related problems — especially poverty, in all its guises, including: • water scarcity and pollution • urban slums • rural isolation • fair and equitable trade • political and ethnic conflict • gender, race and age discrimination and inequities • labor and human rights • rights to medical aid • maternal health care • education for all • the rights of children, the mentally ill, and the disabled • environmental justice • climate change • access to credit Through children’s books, other products and films PeaceDiviners™ raises awareness of the sectors in which our partners work. In addition, PeaceDiviners™ information and educational materials illuminate the necessary role these social development artists play in global harmony and health. For Grant Partners Provision of subsistence honoraria in the form of annual grants for living expenses to full time volunteers (or under compensated nonprofit positions) is the central raison d’ętre behind the founding of PeaceDiviners™ to financially recognize the personal sacrifices people make who are driven to service, and thereby indirectly assist the people they serve. These grants are designed to remove financial pressures on the social entrepreneur to help keep their focus on the activity they are passionate about. PeaceDiviners™ also reserves a portion of its budget each year to cover the partners’ unexpected expenses that may interfere with regular budgeting. Parts of the PeaceDiviners™ website are dedicated to grant partners to provide details of their projects. PeaceDiviners™ designs the pages, writes the web copy, and takes photographs as required, sponsor modest videos for the partners to assist their organizational fundraising efforts, nominates the partners for awards and grants from other foundations and institutes. For students Summer or Gap-Year jobs are possible either
at PeaceDiviners™ offices or in the field with the social
entrepreneurs. A planned film series
will track a group of young privileged travelers and chronicle their
transformation through exposure to the grant partners, with whom
they will work for six months.
Study tours to visit the partners will be run each year,
sponsored by PeaceDiviners™. |
