The evolution of PeaceDiviners™

Initially Ms Poole conceptualized a foundation that would act as a fee-less matchmaking service for philanthropists looking for good works to fund. PeaceDiviners™, in its original incarnation, would find the organizations in need of help and introduce them to generous funders looking for relationship as well as for charitable ways to spend their money. It became apparent very early that she simply did not know where to find these people who had benevolence of spirit, funds to spare, and were looking for both a worthy recipient and long term relationship. While there was strong initial enthusiasm for the concept and agreement that this was something worth doing, introductions to philanthropists in search of people to help did not present themselves.

Yet the needs remained, and when approached during several financial crises in 2003 she found herself frustrated by her inability to either respond personally or to leverage adequate funds elsewhere. She came to the conclusion that the only way to access the necessary funds—especially to manage the unexpected—was to have a contingency fund at the ready. And the only way to obtain and maintain this fund was to transform PeaceDiviners™ into a creative, independent social enterprise that can finance the social development artists directly.

While PeaceDiviners™ is still pleased to provide “matchmaking” services to interested philanthropists in search of a more personal and long-term relationship with the grant partners, the vast majority of grant funds come from the sales of artistic and educational print materials produced for PeaceDiviners™ and used as fundraisers for schools, religious or other community or civic groups, and from revenue from production of inspirational television programming and films.
